Backup-solutions in case of downtime

Outages are rare, but it’s smart to be prepared. This guide shows quick backup solutions if Favrit or our partners go down.

Issue

Solution

Favrit is not working, and you can’t take payments

Use terminal (S1F2 or F1) as a standalone terminal

POS is not working on your terminal

Use a secondary device

WiFi is not working / Terminals can't connect to WiFi

Use 4G on the terminal, or enable hotspot on your mobil device

Adyen or Softpay is down, and you can’t take payments

Use external payment options i.e. Vipps, cash

Favrit is not working, and you can’t take payments

Use the terminal (S1F2 Adyen or F1 Softpay) in standalone mode to manually enter the payment amount.

These transactions will be recorded by the terminal provider but won’t be linked to any specific products in Favrit.

Once Favrit is back online, register the sales by selecting the “External terminal” payment option. This ensures the product sales appear in your settlement report and dashboards.

Quick Guide S1F2 (Adyen)

  1. Exit the Favrit app
Home icon (circle) is located at the bottom of the screen
  2. Open the Transactions app
  3. Tap New transaction
If you have forgotten the passcode, please call support
  4. Tap Payment and enter the amount

If the payment is declined there might a limitation on the card imposed by the card issuer.

Quick Guide F1 (Softpay)

  1. Exit the Favrit ePOS app by tapping the Home icon
The Home icon is a circle located at the bottom of the screen
  2. Open the Softpay app
You’ll find it in the app overview
  3. Open the navigation menu in the top left corner
  4. Tap Payment and enter the amount

NB! Important
If the Payment tab displays the message: “To start a payment, please use your POS application”
This means standalone mode is not available on your merchant. Please contact Favrit Support for assistance.

POS is not working on your terminal

The POS app on the terminal is not functioning as expected, you can still continue taking orders by using a secondary device, such as a mobile phone, tablet, or computer.

  1. Open the Favrit app or go to epos.favrit.com on another device (phone, iPad, or laptop)

  2. Log in using your usual credentials

  3. Take the order as normal

  4. At the payment step, send the payment to the terminal

Make sure the terminal is powered on and connected to the internet

To download the Favrit app to your mobile device, search for “Favrit POS” in the App Store or Google Play.

WiFi is not working / Terminals not connecting to the internet

All our terminals (S1F2 and F1) support 4G and are equipped with built-in SIM cards. In most cases, the terminal will automatically switch to 4G if WiFi is fully unavailable.

However, in some cases the router may still broadcast a WiFi signal, even if the internet connection is actually down (e.g. if the modem has lost connection to the internet provider). When this happens, the terminal may stay connected to the WiFi signal and not switch to 4G, because it sees WiFi as “available” – even though there is no real internet access.

Manually turn off WiFi on the terminal

This will force the terminal to disconnect from the faulty network and switch to the 4G connection via the built-in SIM card.

How to turn off WiFi:

  1. Tap the Home icon (circle at the bottom of the screen)

  2. Open the Settings app

  3. Go to WiFi settings

  4. Toggle WiFi off

  5. Wait a few seconds – the terminal should automatically connect to 4G.

How to Connect Your Payment Terminal to a Mobile WiFi Hotspot

If your regular WiFi connection is unavailable, you can connect the terminal to your phone’s hotspot to stay online. This is a great backup solution in case of outages or poor coverage.

How to enable hotspot on your mobil device

 iPhone

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap Personal Hotspot

  3. Toggle on Allow Others to Join

  4. Take note of the network name and password

Android

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap Connections or Network & Internet

  3. Select Hotspot & Tethering

  4. Turn on Wi-Fi hotspot

  5. Note the network name and password

Search for hotspot WiFi on the Terminal and Connect

On the terminal (e.g. Adyen S1F2 or Softpay F1):

  1. Tap the Home icon (a circle at the bottom of the screen) to exit the current app

  2. Go to the Settings app

  3. Tap Wi-Fi

  4. Wait a few seconds while the terminal searches for available networks

If your phone’s hotspot doesn’t appear right away, tap Refresh or Rescan
  5. Tap the network name that matches your mobile hotspot

  6. Enter the password from your phone and tap Connect

Adyen (S1F2) / Softpay (F1) is down, and you can’t take payments

We recommend using any available external payment method such as Vipps, cash, or a backup card terminal if you have one.
