Maintenance and storage of F1 terminals
Proper care extends the lifespan of your terminals and reduces the need for support and replacements.
Cleaning
- Wipe down the screen and surface with a screen cleaner approximately once a week.
- Always wipe off any dirt or liquid before placing the terminal in storage or on charge.
- Keep the terminal away from liquids and greasy surfaces.
- Clean the charging port regularly. If dust has accumulated, use a can of compressed air to blow the port clean.
Charging
- Never yank out the charging cable — always remove it carefully.
- Always use the original charging equipment.
- Do not charge multiple terminals in a small enclosed space without ventilation — charging generates heat and can damage the terminals over time if airflow is restricted.
Storage
- Store terminals in a safe place where they cannot fall or be damaged.
- Make sure terminals are dry and clean before putting them into storage.
Temperature limits
| Category | Temperature range |
|---|---|
| Normal operation | -5°C to +45°C |
| Storage | -25°C to +60°C |
Note: Terminals can be stored in cold temperatures (down to -25°C), but must return to room temperature before being used. Operating below -5°C is not recommended.
Important for outdoor events and winter use
If terminals are used or stored outdoors over extended periods — for example, from early November through early January — be aware of the following:
- At temperatures below approximately -10°C, the motherboard and battery can freeze. This may cause the terminal to stop working or fail to power on.
- The battery is particularly vulnerable to cold and will lose capacity faster at low temperatures.
- Avoid leaving terminals in unheated sheds or vehicles overnight in freezing conditions.
- Always allow the terminal to warm up to room temperature before powering on or charging after exposure to cold.
Rule of thumb: Treat the terminals like a smartphone — they can handle brief exposure to cold, but not prolonged time below freezing.
