Creating the Gift Card
Start setting up you gift cards by navigating going to admin.favrit.com -> Service Settings -> Gift Cards.
Choose ＋ New gift card type, and fill out information such as the name of the Gift card and which locations it can be used. The locations visible in the list are the locations your user has access to.
To save the new Gift card, Click Create Gift card type.
You can now see your new Gift card type at the Gift card dashboard.
Setting up the Gift Card
Remember to:
1. Set up an account for the Gift card Tax group if you have an accounting integration.
After you create your first Gift card, a new tax group will be made and connected to the product automatically. Go to Menu -> Tax groups And add an account.
2. Add the Gift card to a section in your Menu to start selling it to your customers.
This can be done by creating a new section, clicking the Add existing product button, and searching for the Gift card you just made and clicking on the name of the Gift card.
3. Activate the payment type for Favrit Gift Card.
Activate the Gift card as a payment type by navigating to Service Settings -> ePOS, and activate Favrit gift card as a payment methods in Direct Sales and Open Bill.
4. Set up an account for the Favrit Gift Card payment method if you have an accounting integration.
Go to Accounting integrations in Admin, and fill in the account for the payment type 'Favrit gift card'.
Selling Gift Cards
Option 1 - ePOS:
When a customer wants to buy a Gift card you simply click on the Gift card in ePOS and select the value you want for it. You will then have to fill out the phone number of the customer. This is where the reference code for using the Gift card is sent.
Option 2 - Online
Share a link on you website or social media. This way, people can buy gift cards online.
You find this link in Admin → Gift cards → Select the gift card type.
Receive the gift card
The guest will receive an SMS (ePOS purchase) or email (online purchase) with a link to the gift card, where they can forward it via email to whoever they want.
If for some reason, the guest did not receive it, you can resend it in Admin → Gift Cards → Click the gift card type, and find the sold gift card.
Using the Gift Card
To use the Gift Card, simply select Favrit gift card as the payment methods for when taking an order, and type in the reference number provided by the customer. You can also see balance and expiry.
If the gift card value is lower than the total, the gift card can only be used on an open bill, since split payment only works on open bills.
Find and manage sold gift cards
In Admin → Gift Cards → Gift card type, you can search for sold gift cards.
On a sold gift card, you can resend or block it. If you block it, you can choose to send it to another phone number. For example if the gift card was sent to someone else by mistake.
You can download a report to see the different locations the gift card has been used.
Refunding a gift card:
Refunding must be done from the order log or order history, as you would refund a regular product.
If you refund a gift card, you have to manually go and block the gift card. If you don't, the gift card will remain active.
Gift cards across multiple locations
A Gift Card Type can be sold and redeemed across multiple locations, as mentioned earlier.
You can download a report to see where the gift card was sold, redeemed, and the amounts involved. The locations are responsible for settling any amounts owed between them.
The report is available for download in all locations that is part of the Gift Card Type, so it will not matter which of the locations you download it from.
Example report:
A Gift Card Type has three locations selected for use (A La Carte Gourmet, Wizarding World and Puzzles).
This example shows that A La Carte Gourmet has sold gift cards for a total of 750 NOK. It has been used for payment at A La Carte Gourmet for a total of 200 NOK.
At Puzzles the gift card has been used for payment for a total of 1 000 NOK. No gift cards has been sold through that location.
Wizarding World has sold gift cards for a total of 7 500 NOK. It has been used for payment for a total of 90 NOK.
This report is available for download in all the three locations, since all three locations are selected in the Gift Card Type.
